About The Bugg Plug

Welcome to The Bugg Plug — a family-run business built on a shared love for reptiles, invertebrates, and all things that creep, crawl, and climb. What started as a personal hobby quickly became a full-time passion, with each of us playing a part. From feeding routines to show days, our whole family is hands-on in raising healthy, happy animals and creating a space where both new keepers and seasoned collectors feel at home.

Whether you’re looking for your next favorite gecko, a beautiful tarantula, or just someone who truly gets the hobby, you’ve found your people. Thanks for being here and supporting what we love.

Built on Passion

My love for reptiles and invertebrates started early. I moved in with my dad as a kid, and he was just diving into the reptile hobby. I remember a blizzard corn snake being one of the first animals I ever held — and from there, everything changed. I grew up watching hatchlings break through their eggs, breeding projects take shape, and the hobby itself evolve during the late '90s and early 2000s. I didn’t choose this life — it chose me.

In 2011, I officially started breeding on my own. It wasn’t a side hustle — it was a mission. I went on to create and document new morphs, including ones that still live on today in the World of Ball Pythons archive. But my biggest milestone came in 2016, when I identified the original Fire female — a crested gecko that carried a gene I knew had game-changing potential. I worked it, proved it, and founded the Fire project, which would eventually lead to the Blizzard, the super form — a line we proudly continue to refine to this day.

In 2022, I co-founded The Bugg Plug with a partner as a way to bring something new to the scene. But by 2025, I became the sole owner — stepping fully into my role as the face, heart, and fire behind this business. Since then, The Bugg Plug has evolved into something much bigger: a full-time, passion-powered brand that fuels my family and continues to push the hobby forward.

We're not just another seller. We are the way. One of the first to bring inverts like isopods, springtails, mantises, and tarantulas into the mainstream reptile space — long before it was trendy. We’ve helped shape the market, raise the standard, and teach others how to do it right.

I run every part of the business: breeding, cleaning, photographing, feeding, shipping, answering messages, vending shows, and managing the site. I do it all — not because I have to, but because this is where I belong. We breed ethically, support U.S.-based keepers, and work only with those who share our values.

I have five kids and a spouse who rely on this dream. And that dream is alive — not just for me, but for them. One day, I’ll hand this down. Until then, I’ll keep doing what I do best: working with the animals I love and helping grow this hobby the right way.
